More Pujols Rookie Cards

I picked up this three card lot on ebay last month for way less than the $35 – $40 local shops are asking for Albert’s 2001 Topps Stars card alone.

I’m not really sure if the Fleer Platinum counts as a rookie card or not. I’m posting both Fleer cards to show that the blue blemish looks like a consistent printing issue.

2006 Topps Finest Adam Wainwright Rookie Auto

Added to our Wainwright rookie collection a few weeks ago thru a cheap, three card lot from a new seller. I think a lot of folks were turned off by the new seller’s lack of feedback so the bidding was at a minimum.

2004 Yadier Molina Rookie Cards

We’ve started picking up Yadier Molina rookie cards lately. The bad news for us is that they’re more expensive here in St. Louis than online or in other cities. My dad picked these up for me. I have a lot of cards to trade so please let me know if you have any 2004 or 2005 Molina’s available.

2006 Adam Wainwright UD Future Stars Auto

Here’s another low cost ebay addition to our Wainwright rookie stack. This one is pretty cool as its printed on clear plastic. The auto is on a clear sticker.

2001 Topps Gallery Video Box Break

Here’s Isaac’s 2nd try at a video box break. I wanted to get him an Albert Pujols rookie card for his birthday but thought it would be more fun if he actually pulled the card from a fresh pack. I found a 2001 Topps Gallery Hobby Box for a good price on ebay and pulled the trigger. It wasn’t until *after* the box arrived that I realized that the rookie cards were short printed and inserted 1:6 packs or so. Gulp… Let’s see what’s in that box. Isaac, take it away!

Winter Warm Up 2011–Day 2 (The Packs)

My dad let me get more packs to open while standing in line and a few packs to open during dinner that night. The Cardinals had a souvenir booth and had packs on sale. Dad said they were expensive (Dad: Didn't realize they were selling all packs for $2 and $3 instead of the 500000% markup on the stadium price tags.)and were retail packs so I probably wouldn’t be as lucky as the day before. He was so wrong!
From the Retail Packs during the day. They also had 2009 Cereal Boxes for $6! We bought the last one but didn’t get much. The X packs were cool – a Peavy jersey card and some cards for my favorite players binder.

And back to the Hobby Packs at night. Two autos from the Astros and Cubs. Boo!

Follow Up: Topps 2008 Red Hot Rookie Redemption

Guess what was waiting for Isaac today? That's right, the first of two 2008 Red Hot Rookies: The Rangers' Chris Davis.

I'll say this for Topps support, while they weren't proactive about correcting the wrong email dates they support representative was honest and provided accurate information. He said the email should have said "4 - 6 weeks" and sure enough, this card arrived four weeks to the day.

The card itself is pretty blah. Davis's face is obscured by the helmet and sunglasses. He appeared in 80 games for the Rangers last year yet this picture appears to be from spring training, batting practice, or a minor league game. Topps couldn't get a major league shot for a guy who played half a season in the majors? One last thing, is "Rangers" airbrushed / Photoshop'd on his jersey or is that just me?

Topps 2008 Red Hot Rookie Redemption Update

PSA for those waiting for their 2008 Red Hot Rookies.

Like many others, we received emails in late February and early March that Isaac's 2008 Red Hot Rookie Redemptions were in the mail and should be delivered within 10 - 14 business days. After waiting well past that timeframe with no cards in hand, I called Topps this morning for an update.

I was told that the emails were erroneous and that the cards would not be arriving within 10 - 14 business days of the email sent date. Instead, the wait is actually 4 - 6 weeks for the cards to be sent, with a 10 - 14 day delivery window after they leave Topps.

No great shakes, just an FYI for others waiting for their redemptions. We're waiting for #6 and #8... I've forgotten who they are and am too lazy to find out right now. Isaac would know though.
